Action Alert

ISSUE:           The Nonpublic School Technology Initiative was first removed from the Budget by Governor Corzine and has remained completely out of the Budget for the last two subsequent budget cycles.  Governor Christie restored 50% of the amount ($20.00 per pupil) in his State Budget for FY ’13.  The Democratic version of the FY ’13 Budget restores the entire $40.00 amount for the Nonpublic School Technology Initiative.

OUR POSITION:   The New Jersey Catholic Conference and the New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families have continued to support the complete restoration of the Nonpublic School Technology Initiative in the annual New Jersey State Budget.

ACTION:       Please email Governor Chris Christie to ask that he not redline the full restoration of the Nonpublic School Technology Initiative in the final version of the FY ’13 Budget.  This is a time-sensitive request because the State Budget must be enacted by July 1.  Indicate how important the Technology Initiative has been over the years to your schools and how the loss of this money at the rate of $40.00 per pupil has had a significant negative impact.
