Christian Service
Honors Course Rising seniors may submit an application to enroll in the Christian Service Honors class. In addition to classroom work, students volunteer 3 hours per week assisting in various community agencies. Requirements to be accepted into Christian Service H course: application, interview with Christian Service Coordinator, and the Graduation requirement to complete 70 hours of Christian Service must be completed before being accepted into this course. MDHS students are required to meet the following minimum Christian Service Hours Requirements in order to graduate (Graduation requirement is 70 hours). 20 hours of Christian Service completed during sophomore year 20 hours of Christian Service completed during junior year 20 hours of Christian Service completed during senior year Christian Service
Opportunities: Students assist the Missionaries of Charity Sisters in
tutoring, mentoring and faith sharing followed by putting their faith into
action on the streets of Students assist the Missionaries of Charity Sisters in

Baseball, Chariot Riders and Tops Soccer Students assist the physically and mentally handicapped with simple baseball, horseback riding and soccer skills. Habitat for
Humanity School-based chapter that assists with building homes for needy families. Students also work in the “Re-Sale Store” which is owned and operated by North Ocean Habitat for Humanity. Harbor House Students provide support to this organization by volunteering and/or participating in their annual bike ride that generates over a million dollars each year. Students also assist with ground maintenance including planting, raking etc. Students also volunteer in their “Re-Sale Store.” Hunger Relief Students provide emergency food assistance to needy people
in Temporary housing is provided in community parishes for homeless families. Options An adult day care for people with CP and multiple handicaps where students assist with their Christmas party and their prom. Students assist with activities and programs for autistic children. Raise awareness and financial support for the American Cancer Society. S.A.I.L.
(Service and Achievement in the Library) Students help with children’s programs as well as assist staff in all library departments. Sandwiches To
Support (STS) Students gather once a week with the Christian Service Coordinator to make sandwiches to show supportive help for our brothers and sisters who are homeless/ working poor. Friday evenings at 5:30 PM, students can help serve or clean up after the meal that is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Students shoot free throws to raise money for Special Olympics athletes.
