Christian Service
Hours
Rising seniors may submit an application to enroll in the Christian Service Honors class.
In addition to classroom work, students volunteer one hour per week assisting in various
community agencies.

Program
MDHS students are required to meet the following minimum Christian Service Hours
Requirements in order to graduate:
10 hours of Christian Service during freshman year
20 hours of Christian Service during sophomore year
20 hours of Christian Service during junior year
20 hours of Christian Service during senior year

Students assist the Sisters of Charity in tutoring,
mentoring and faith sharing followed by putting their faith into action on the
streets of

Sister Program
The program is the first ever in
Bikes for Life
Students collect gently used bicycles for the working poor and homeless.
Clean Ocean
Action/Beach Sweep
Students join forces in being an environmental leader in their community.
Children’s
Students paint and decorate windows to bring joy and happiness to the children. The students also read to the children.
Crop Walk
Students and faculty walk to raise monies and awareness to help combat hunger locally as well as globally.
Challenger Baseball,
Chariot Riders and Tops Soccer
Students assist the physically and mentally handicapped with simple baseball, horseback riding and soccer skills.
Habitat for Humanity
School-based chapter that assists with building homes for needy families. Students also work in the “Re-Store” which is owned and operated by NOHFH.
Harbor House
Students provide support to this organization by volunteering and/or participating in their annual bike ride that generates over a million dollars each year. Students also assist with ground maintenance including planting, raking, etc. Students also volunteer in their re-sale store.
Hunger Relief
Students provide emergency food assistance to needy people
in

Hospitality
Temporary housing is provided in community parishes for homeless families.
Students assist Minister Steve with cooking and providing breakfast for the poor and homeless of our community.
Options
An adult day care for people with CP and multiple handicaps. The students assist with their Christmas party and their prom.
P.O.A.C. (Parents of
Autistic Children)
Students assist with activities and programs for autistic children.
Relay for Life
Raise awareness and financial support for the American Cancer Society.
S.A.I.L. (Service and
Achievement in the Library)
Students help with children’s programs as well as assist staff in all library departments.
Special Olympics
“Make the Point”
Students shoot free throws to raise money for Special Olympics athletes.
Held at
Students collect animal supplies and participate in fundraising for the shelter.
