Destiny

Oh, among the ruins of Troy

And the trickery of a wooden horse,

rises Aeneas, good and true,

for whom the Fates have laid out a course,

that he must follow and from it not stray.

His reward would be great,

As he would lay claim

To the greatest of all civilizations

As the founder and patriarch of glorious Rome.

Many an obstacle was put in his way,

As Cupid pierced Dido to force his delay.

But of his duties this brave man was mindful

And so he kept to the plan

That Destiny had designed for him.

Juno with her hatred for Troy and its people,

Vented her wrath on this daring hero

By sending down storm and Furies to thwart him,

But even torment by an immortal being

Could not deter the resolve of this brave man.

For in the end one must be aware

That your fate is determined

And written in Destiny’s hand.

If in character we can be courageous and true

And be given some help from the heavens above

We, like Aeneas, will be able to set out

And finish what we were meant to do.
