Catholic Schools Week

The theme for Catholic Schools Week this year is Faith. Academics. Service. To highlight these themes we have a variety of programs planned for the week, which runs from Monday, January 30 through Sunday, February 5, 2012. Tuesday, January 31  is an Open House from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. when interested 7th and 8th graders and/or parents can visit classes in session and get a first-hand view of Mon Don in action. Applications and other school information will be available. The next placement test will take place at the end of February. On Wednesday, February 1, Monsignor Thomas Gervasio and a delegation of diocesan priests will meet with our young men to tell their stories about how they each discerned to enter the priesthood. In addition, we have invited the Catholic Campus Ministry departments from a variety of NJ colleges to discuss with our students, and especially our seniors, ways to stay involved with their faith beyond high school. Catholic Schools Week will culminate with Mass on Sunday, February 5 at 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Church. All Monsignor Donovan families are invited and welcome to attend this liturgical celebration.

Student/Parent Access

MDHS now has Student Resources available via Parent Access.  Students, with parental permission, can have their own login accounts and be able to view their academic progress throughout the year.  The benefit is that students would not be able to see siblings’ information or other information meant for parents.  If you would like your child to have his or her own account, please go to the MDHS webpage: www.mondonhs.com. Click on the “Students” link and open the Student Resource Authorization.  You and your child should print and complete the form and return it to Mrs. Boyd in Room 404.

All Parents:   We will be sending letters to parents via parent access.  Letters that need a parents immediate attention will also be sent via US mail.  Please check the documents tab on your Parent Access account on a regular basis to see if you have any letters waiting.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Boyd at dboyd@mondonhs.com

Junior Ring Ceremony

Juniors and their parents and guardians are cordially invited to attend the Junior Ring Ceremony on Thursday, February 9, 2012.  Mass will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Saint Joseph’s Church. We invite all members of the Class of 2012 to celebrate their class unity and friendship during this special liturgy. Students must dress in a manner appropriate for church.

Students who have purchased schools rings will receive them during the ceremony. However the evening’s focus centers on unity and friendship, rather than the rings alone. Students may submit their own rings or other items for the blessing during the ceremony if they have not purchased a school ring. They may bring their own items to the Computer Lab during Flex before February 7th.

After the ceremony, we invite all juniors and their guests to attend a dinner reception in the cafeteria sponsored by the PTA.  We hope to see you all there.
